DRYFT Music opened its doors in January 2018, launching its first concert on a historic steamship in Seattle to a captivated, sold-out audience. We quickly realized there was an incredible need for this type of intimate show, a concert where the audience sits right next to the performer, where the musician can see and talk to their entire audience, where the physical space enhances the experience. The global pandemic changed the music landscape dramatically, with many venues around the country shuttering their doors. In combination with streaming music as the predominant form of taking in music, musicians have struggled to stay afloat. And yet music is something we all deeply connect with and I would argue is essential in our lives. Dryft was created to change this paradigm. We created a model that offers fair compensation and a unique, engaging space for the musician; a cozy, quiet, listening room environment in beautiful, unusual venues; and a way to bring everyone together in an unbeatable experience that is unlike any other concert you’ve experienced. He has been intimately involved in Seattle's music scene for over 13 years as a producer and musician, formerly with the folk-pop duo, March to May, and currently on his own solo project, The Small Kingdoms. Darren loves bringing people together in intimate spaces around the shared experience of live music, but also loves to travel, having ventured to over 65 countries on six continents. He is an avid hiker and adventurer, spending as much time as possible outside in remote locales.
